How do students connect their home profile to my educator account?

We have added the ability to connect profiles when a child uses both a home account and a school account. The connect request is initiated by the parent. The parent must have an active, subscribed home account before initiating the connect request.

STEP 1: Parent initiates the 'Connect to your Teacher" request

How to connect via the website:
- Switch to the parent profile (you will need to enter your account password to access the parent profile)
- Click on the parent dashboard
- Click on "Connect to Your Teacher" button next to the profile you are attempting to connect
- Click on "Find Your Teacher"
- Enter your classroom code, then select "Next"
- Click on "Join a classroom" (this will send the request to join to the teacher)
- Click on "OK"

How to connect via iOS:
- Switch to the parent profile (you will need to enter your account password to access the parent profile)
- Tap your parent avatar to access your parent dashboard
- Tap on the menu option next to the profile you are attempting to connect (3 dots to the far right of each profile)
- Select "Connect To Your Teacher"
- Tap on "Find a Teacher"
- Enter your classroom code, then select "Next"
- Tap "Join a classroom" (this will send the request to join to the teacher)
- Tap "OK"

STEP 2: Educator accepts the 'Connect to your Teacher" request

You will receive an email letting you know there is a connect request pending. To approve (or deny) the pending request, please log into your educator account.

- Switch to the teacher profile
- Click your teacher avatar to access your teacher dashboard
- At the top of your student profiles, you will see the connect request waiting for your approval
- Select 'Enable'

Once you approve the request, it will add the student's home profile to your class list (you will see all of their reading history that they did on their home account.) You can assign books and quizzes to the student, which they will see on their profile in their home account.

Note: If you already have a profile for a student making the connection request in your Epic! classroom, there will now be two profiles for that student in your class list. Unfortunately, we don't yet offer a way to merge the two profiles. We recommend deleting the profile you had set up for the student initially (as the home profile usually has more reading history on it). However, you can choose to keep the original profile in addition to the home profile, if you wish.
